THIS IS MY STORY
I was born in Los Angeles
I had a really simple, lovely childhood. My parents were working-class and total hippies. Growing up we would camp, spend time in nature, and cruise around California in my dad’s van.
My grandmother was the person who first sparked my love for fashion. I was really drawn to her because she was a little fancier than anyone I had ever met. While my mom’s fashion style was simple - the most she’d accessorize with was beads - my grandmother wore diamonds and had luxe coats. She really inspired me not only in fashion but also in life because she was such a strong, loving person.
Unlike the rest of my family, I was so into fashion. My style was kind of over the top –– my family and friends would joke around because I would wear fake opticals that I didn't need because I thought they looked cool with my outfit (and I still do!). At 14 I’d dress like a professional woman in her late twenties. I always loved pushing the envelope and having my own thing going on.
HOW I GOT MY FOOT IN THE DOOR
Even though I went to college for photography, my favorite part was picking the models, finding the clothes, and creating the concepts.
I kept going back to styling because that’s what I always loved.
After college, I worked for an interior designer and as a nanny. Then I met an executive at Disney who asked me what I wanted to do with my life. I told him I wanted to be involved with wardrobe in television. He got me an interview and in it I was told, “We love how passionate you are. We have no money but we can put you on a movie as a PA in the wardrobe department.”
The movie was being filmed in Florida so I had to fly myself out there, put myself up, and do the whole thing to make no money. But I was like, “100% I’m going.” I didn’t even think about it for two seconds. I got myself to Florida and I had this amazing experience on the film.
I felt that I’d found my people. Working with all of these different creatives, being on location, shooting at night in Miami. The whole thing blew my mind; I couldn’t believe it. I thought, “This is what I’m doing now”.
MY CAREER STARTED SNOWBALLING FROM THERE
I got back to LA and started hustling trying to get jobs. After a few years, I started working on a show called THE OC.
There I met my first client, Rachel Bilson. We started working together because I was the on-set costumer, and we talked about fashion and had similar interests. It was a very organic relationship. The show started to pick up traction overnight, and Rachel got invited to red carpets and special events. That’s when she asked me to start styling her after-hours. Neither of us had ever done anything like that, but together we decided to try.
We winged it the first season, but by season two I was ready to take a leap and do my own thing. Rachel introduced me to Kristen Bell, who was on Veronica Mars at the time. Once I started working with Kristen, I felt a bit more legitimate because I wasn’t just helping out a friend - I was now styling two clients. I decided to leave costuming and take a leap of faith to try and do this styling thing on my own.
IT HAPPENED SO FAST, I JUST WENT ALONG FOR THE RIDE.
More and more people started connecting with me so I just kept getting more clients.
It all happened organically. I met my now-husband around that time at the wrap party for season one of THE OC. He was an established agent and encouraged me to go after my dream. So I did! Then I got connected with Scarlett Johansson and Catherine Zeta-Jones, so I started working with them too.
Because it was all growing so fast, I learned by doing everything myself. I’d never assisted anyone, so I had to just figure it out as I went. Doing shoots, campaigns, commercials and everything – that was my true training and education. Every scenario I have been in over the course of my career became the building blocks that taught me how to run my business.
I was doing dreamy brand collabs, flying here and there, attending fashion shows. And then… I became a mom!
WHICH BRINGS US TO TODAY
My whole career changed when I became a mom.
I stopped traveling as much and prioritized my growing family, taking on jobs close to home. But by the time my third son was two, I realized that the past seven years had been a blur!
The ultra-creative side of my brain had been turned off because I was so hyper-focused on my family, my clients, and what I needed to get done. There was no extra time for daydreaming about what the next fun thing was going to be.
So that’s why I’m really excited about this new platform and my next chapter – I love being able to share my creative vision and inspire others to experiment, create and play with style!
HERE’S WHAT I'M ABOUT
I want to connect, to have a conversation about all things style, to give back, to inspire and to be inspired by others in the creative space.
My mission is to help everyone build their style confidence in an easy, accessible way. I aim to guide people toward what works for their own body and budget, what to shop for, how to simplify their personal style, what to wear and when, how to build a solid foundation, and offer a reminder that fashion should be fun!
Having true style doesn't mean having a ton of clothes, all designer clothes, or all fancy clothes. True style is about building a foundation for your unique expression, so you can wear and love what you have.
It’s not just about looking good either. It’s about feeling good, sharing stories, and helping people on their journey with self-realization and confident expression.
